
I%20can%27t%20believe%20it%27s%20been%20six%20years%20since%20my%20daily%20routine%20was%20walking%20the%20hills%20on%20a%20constant%20quest%20to%20get%20better%20and%20better%20images%20of%20my%20favorite%20birds%20and%2C%20every%20once%20in%20a%20while%2C%20a%20vagrant%20such%20as%20the%20Indigo%20Bunting%20or%20Tropical%20Kingbird%20which%20could%20make%20my%20whole%20year%2C%20not%20just%20the%20day.%20Some%20years%2C%20especially%20in%20the%20peak%20of%20the%20continuing%20drought%2C%20I%20would%20become%20completely%20involved%20with%20dragonflies%20and%20damselflies.%20In%20the%20worst%20years%2C%20at%20least%20the%20odonates%20would%20still%20be%20around%20for%20four%20or%20five%20months%20%28until%20this%20year%20when%20the%20season%20seems%20to%20have%20ended%20already%29.%0A%0ADuring%20the%20Bluebird%20Restoration%20Project%20years%2C%20there%20were%20at%20least%20six%20resident%20and%20five%20migratory%20birds%20that%20could%20keep%20me%20busy%2C%20and%20my%20calendar%20showed%20that%20the%20patterns%20were%20stable%20for%20a%20good%20part%20of%20the%20time.%20The%20Bullock%27s%20Oriole%20would%20come%20through%20in%20May%2C%20build%20their%20basket%20nests%2C%20have%20two%20or%20three%20kids%2C%20and%20then%20continue%20on%20to%20southern%20California.%20Overlapping%20with%20their%20last%20month%20would%20be%20the%20Ash-throated%20Flycatcher.%20The%20oriole%20was%20a%20fashy%20bird%2C%20but%20really%20difficult%20because%20they%20would%20fly%20from%20oak%20to%20oak%2C%20perch%20in%20the%20interior%20where%20they%20were%20impossible%20to%20capture%2C%20and%20then%20sounding%20very%20much%20like%20the%20Acorn%20Woodpecker%20%28a%20constant%20resident%29%20-%20whaka%2C%20whaka%2C%20whaka%20-%20fly%20to%20another%20oak.%20%0A%0AThis%20year%2C%20I%20saw%20one%20ATF%2C%20and%20this%20is%20it.%20Uncooperative%2C%20but%20still%20behaving%20like%20a%20flycatcher%2C%20I%20staked%20out%20two%20fence%20posts%20and%20one%20branch%20of%20an%20oak%20that%20hung%20over%20the%20meadow%20by%20about%2015%20feet.%20I%20got%20two%20photos%2C%20and%20this%20was%20the%20better%20of%20the%20two.%20Happy%20to%20get%20him%2C%20but%20sorry%20that%20this%20was%20the%20new%20%26quot%3Bnormal.%26quot%3B%0A%0AThe%20ash-throated%20flycatcher%20%28Myiarchus%20cinerascens%29%20is%20a%20passerine%20bird%20in%20the%20tyrant%20flycatcher%20family.%20It%20breeds%20in%20desert%20scrub%2C%20riparian%20forest%2C%20brushy%20pastures%20and%20open%20woodland%20from%20the%20western%20United%20States%20to%20central%20Mexico.%20It%20is%20a%20short-distance%20migrant%2C%20retreating%20from%20most%20of%20the%20U.S.%20and%20northern%20and%20central%20Mexico%2C%20spending%20the%20winter%20from%20southern%20Mexico%20to%20Honduras.%20
