Picnics%20aren%27t%20usually%20fun%20if%20you%27re%20on%20your%20own%2C%20I%27m%20told.%20Being%20alone%20in%20the%20picnic%20area%20at%20Seven%20Mile%20Beach%2C%20Gerroa%2C%20Australia%2C%20under%20this%20incredibly%20beautiful%20and%20awe-inspiring%20sky%20on%20a%20winter%27s%20night%20in%20June%20of%20this%20year%2C%20was%20a%20time%20I%27d%20be%20happy%20to%20experience%20again.%20The%20Milky%20Way%27s%20core%20was%20almost%20straight%20overhead%20at%20this%20time%20of%20the%20night%2C%20although%20it%20doesn%27t%20look%20that%20way%20here%20due%20to%20the%20warping%20that%20a%20vertical%20panoramic%20photo%20brings%20with%20it.%20A%20little%20below%20midway%20down%20my%20image%2C%20you%20can%20see%20the%20Solar%20System%27s%20two%20most%20massive%20planets%2C%20Jupiter%20and%20Saturn%2C%20making%20their%20way%20up%20the%20eastern%20sky.%20%0A%0AThe%20picnic%20grounds%20here%20are%20another%20location%20on%20my%20ever-growing%20list%20of%20places%20that%20I%27ve%20only%20ever%20visited%20after%20dark.%20There%20was%20a%20slight%20wind%20breathing%20through%20the%20area%20on%20the%20night%2C%20keeping%20the%20air%20free%20of%20dust%2C%20helping%20me%20to%20make%20the%20most%20of%20the%20very%20dark%20skies%20that%20the%20region%20offers.%20The%20only%20disappointment%20attached%20to%20this%20nightscape%20photography%20trek%20was%20that%20I%20had%20to%20work%20the%20next%20day%2C%20limiting%20the%20time%20that%20I%20could%20stay%20before%20making%20the%20110%20km%20%2868%20mi%29%20drive%20back%20to%20my%20home%20in%20Sydney.%0A%0AAs%20I%20mentioned%20above%2C%20this%20photo%20is%20a%20vertical%20panorama%2C%20created%20by%20shooting%20ten%20overlapping%20frames%20that%20were%20then%20stitched%20into%20the%20final%20image%20using%20the%20application%20Autopano%20Pro.%20I%20shot%20each%20of%20the%20individual%20frames%20with%20my%20Canon%20EOS%206D%20Mk%20II%20camera%2C%20a%20Sigma%2035mm%20f/1.4%20Art%20lens%20@%20f/1.4%2C%20using%20an%20exposure%20time%20of%2010%20seconds%20@%20ISO%203200.
