Not%20much%20in%20life%20is%20certain.%20Death%20and%20taxes%20are%20the%20oft%20quoted%20things%20that%20will%20surely%20befall%20us%20all%20according%20to%20Benjamin%20Franklin.%20Although%20I%20wonder%20whether%20he%20anticipated%20the%20arrival%20of%20the%20global%20giants%20that%20would%20one%20day%20place%20their%20registered%20offices%20on%20a%20conveniently%20obscure%20atoll%20somewhere%20near%20the%20Mid-Atlantic%20Ridge%20and%20render%20the%20second%20half%20of%20his%20assertion%20rather%20less%20assured%20as%20well.%20I%27m%20pretty%20sure%20I%20know%20one%20or%20two%20individuals%20whom%20I%20should%20have%20reported%20to%20HM%20Revenue%20and%20Customs%20years%20ago%20for%20forgetting%20to%20fill%20in%20their%20tax%20returns%20as%20completely%20as%20they%20might%20have%20done%2C%20but%20then%20again%20I%20like%20my%20car%20to%20still%20have%20all%20four%20wheels%20on%20it%20when%20I%20leave%20for%20work%20each%20day.%0A%0AI%20think%20we%20each%20have%20a%20few%20things%20in%20life%20that%20are%20pretty%20certain.%20For%20example%20you%20can%20guarantee%20that%20every%20time%20I%20pour%20myself%20a%20gin%20and%20tonic%20at%20home%2C%20I%20will%20get%20the%20respective%20proportions%20completely%20wrong%2C%20and%20unlike%20the%20ones%20you%20may%20have%20sampled%20in%20the%20pub%2C%20it%20will%20taste%20of%20gin%20-%20overwhelmingly%20in%20fact.%20Possibly%20linked%20to%20this%20I%20am%20certain%20that%20despite%20my%20best%20intentions%20I%20will%20not%20get%20up%20two%20hours%20before%20dawn%20tomorrow%20to%20capture%20a%20misty%20sunrise%20image.%20There%27s%20only%20one%20each%20of%205%2C%206%20and%207%20o%20clock%20in%20every%20day%20in%20my%20life%20and%20unless%20I%20start%20experimenting%20with%20products%20that%20are%20best%20left%20avoided%20for%20my%20own%20safety%2C%20that%27s%20not%20going%20to%20change.%20I%27m%20also%20pretty%20sure%20that%20I%20will%20not%20finish%20reading%20%26quot%3BOne%20Hundred%20Years%20of%20Solitude%26quot%3B%20before%20this%20time%20next%20year%2C%20despite%20having%20started%20it%20several%20months%20ago.%20It%27s%20one%20of%20those%20books%20we%27re%20apparently%20%26quot%3Bsupposed%26quot%3B%20to%20read.%20I%20just%20haven%27t%20quite%20got%20into%20the%20rhythm%20of%20it%20yet.%20Let%20me%20know%20if%20I%20should%20continue%20with%20it%20won%27t%20you%3F%20I%20normally%20read%20about%20six%20books%20during%20the%20annual%20fortnight%20on%20the%20beach%2C%20and%20one%20more%20during%20the%20remaining%20fifty%20weeks.%20I%20suspect%20that%27s%20not%20an%20uncommon%20phenomenon.%0A%0AThere%27s%20one%20other%20thing%20I%20feel%20quite%20certain%20of%2C%20and%20it%27s%20that%20for%20as%20long%20as%20I%27m%20able%2C%20I%27ll%20keep%20returning%20to%20this%20place.%20I%27m%20not%20enormously%20well%20travelled%20in%20truth.%20I%27ve%20only%20been%20out%20of%20Europe%20once%20in%20my%20life%20and%20that%20was%20just%20for%20one%20week%2C%20and%20only%20just%20out%20of%20Europe%20too%20for%20that%20matter.%20There%20are%20places%20in%20the%20world%20that%20I%27d%20quite%20like%20to%20visit%2C%20but%20it%20doesn%27t%20burn%20inside%20me%20like%20it%20did%20when%20I%20was%20a%20young%20man.%20I%27ve%20been%20to%20Iceland%20and%20I%27d%20like%20to%20go%20again%2C%20and%20I%27m%20really%20keen%20on%20going%20to%20the%20island%20groups%20of%20the%20Hebrides%2C%20the%20Faroes%20and%20Lofoten%20in%20the%20next%20few%20years%2C%20all%20with%20the%20camera%20bag%20of%20course%2C%20But%20those%20ambitions%20aside%2C%20I%27m%20very%20content%20with%20my%20lot.%20I%20live%20ten%20miles%20from%20here%2C%20my%20favourite%20place%20in%20the%20world.%20I%20love%20watching%20how%20the%20sea%2C%20the%20land%20and%20the%20light%20change%20here%20throughout%20the%20seasons.%20This%20is%20the%20shot%20I%20was%20looking%20for%20when%20I%20came%20here%20three%20weeks%20earlier%20in%20a%20storm%20and%20got%20something%20completely%20different%2C%20albeit%20it%20in%20exhilarating%20conditions.%20This%20is%20my%20happy%20place%20where%20I%20come%20to%20stand%20and%20gaze%20and%20dream%20and%20plan.%20The%20place%20where%20the%20seals%20watch%20me%20watching%20them.%20The%20place%20where%20I%27m%20still%20finding%20new%20compositions%20each%20time%20I%20visit.%20This%20weekend%20I%20finished%20up%20here%20on%20Saturday%20and%20Sunday%2C%20watching%20happily%20as%20the%20colours%20changed%20in%20the%20sky.%20%0A%0AThere%20are%20some%20places%20that%20we%20like%20to%20photograph%20once%20or%20twice%20and%20then%20move%20on%20because%20we%20think%20our%20business%20is%20done%20there.%20For%20me%20at%20least%2C%20Godrevy%20isn%27t%20one%20of%20them.%20Happy%20almost%20midweek%20everybody%21
